Offshore mooring and installation: the tools and the knowledge.

IQM Soluções builds solvers for multi-segment catenary mooring line analysis and subsea equipment installation, and the training to master them: decades of naval and offshore engineering from a single source.

IQMOORINGMulti-segment catenary, solved end to end.

Real lines are never a single segment. The solver handles catenaries with mixed make-ups of chain, steel wire rope and polyester, and returns what design work actually needs: top and along-line tensions, equilibrium geometry, touchdown point and grounded length.

Every result is built to go straight into the design report: explicit inputs, declared assumptions, numbers you can defend in a project review.

horizontal F (kN) offset (m) restoring curve
Mixed segments
Chain, wire rope and polyester combined in one line, with per-segment properties.
Tensions & geometry
Top and along-line tensions, angles and the equilibrium shape of the catenary.
TDP & grounded length
Seabed touchdown point and grounded line length, per loading condition.
Restoring curves
System stiffness and vessel offset, feeding the stationkeeping analysis.

Tₙ response amplitude period (s) resonance zone

IQMINSTALLResonance, acceleration and positioning — before the equipment goes down.

Equipment, lowering line and environment modelled for subsea installation analysis: payload mass and hydrodynamic coefficients, slings, line material, current profile and seabed landing.

The app delivers statics, dynamics and animation on the same case, including winch operation and a two-vessel Y-arrangement, on the same catenary engine as IQMOORING.

Resonance Tₙ(L)
Natural period of the assembly along the lowering, checked against sea periods to find the safe window.
Slack and kick
Acceleration at the top of the equipment and sling slack risk, for operational criteria.
Positioning under current
Equilibrium and drift of the assembly under current profiles, from surface to touchdown.

SwiftEduThe knowledge behind the tools.

SwiftEdu is IQM’s educational management platform: course catalogue, multimedia lessons, on-line assessments with automatic grading, final papers and certificates authenticated with verification codes, in a single environment.

The current installation offers four lato sensu graduate courses in the maritime, naval, offshore and waterway-logistics fields: 360 hours per course, 727 lessons and 125 assessments. Platform and courses are in Portuguese (PT-BR).

Enrolment and full syllabi on the platform itself.

Who's behind it

Isaias Quaresma Masetti

Naval architect (USP, 1979) · M.Sc. (1984) and D.Sc. (1997) in Civil Engineering (UFRJ)

Thirty-six years of naval and offshore engineering at Petrobras: hulls, mooring systems and innovation for oil production at sea in Brazil.

Career
Joined Petrobras by public examination in 1980 and served as Technical Consultant at CENPES, the company research centre. Seconded to Transpetro in 2009, he headed Technological Development and Innovation until 2015; retired in 2016.
Projects
P-18 (Gothenburg), P-43, P-48 and P-50; concept design of the TLP-1000 (Houston) and of MONOBR; passenger and drilling/completion-fluid HUBs for the pre-salt, at Transpetro.
Patents
MONOBR; chain-suspended riser system (RSA and RSAA); ad-hoc bilge keel for FPSOs; TLP tendon mooring system.
Teaching & community
Professor of Naval Structures (FAETEC, since 2003) and guest lecturer in COPPETEC and FUNCEFET extension courses; member of the SOBENA (Brazilian Society of Naval Engineering) Technical Committee. Through CENPES, helped establish laboratories and simulators with Brazil’s leading universities.
